Apple's share price declined by 3.67% from May 23rd to May 28th after the president threatened Apple with a 25% tariff if they do not produce their products within U.S. borders.
President Trump, on Truth Social, wrote on Friday, May 23rd, about imposing a tariff on Apple, and Apple shares have continued to decrease.
Currently, about 60% of Apple products are manufactured in China, and more than 90% of Apple assembly occurs there. Apple is planning to shift its manufacturing plant to India, and it is estimated that starting at the end of 2025, Apple will produce 25% of global Apple production from India.
Trump wants to see Apple produce its products within American borders to create more employment and boost the American economy, but economists and business people say producing Apple in the US may cost at least three times more than manufacturing in China or India.
